The Mindset Declutter: 3 Journal Prompts for a New Week

Before we dive headfirst into Monday and tackle our goals, go getters, let's take a moment to clear the mental clutter.

You can't step into a new week with a cloudy mind holding on to interactions and expectations of yesterday and expect to see a new week with clarity. To stay focused and steadfast on what you need to complete, whether that's crushing a workout, writing your book, or taking on a new project at work, you have to let go of the extra weight.

Grab your journal. These three prompts will help you release the heavy things you are holding on to so you can truly focus on what's in front of you:

1. This week, I am leaving behind the need to...

Example: Reflect on where you might be forcing control. Is it the need to be perfect? The need to please others? The need to justify or prove a point? Name the feeling, write it down, and practice on leaving it in last week.

2. One area of guilt I am actively releasing is...

Example: Did you take a moment to rest and feel guilty because you now have to “play catch up”? Did you protect your internal and external boundaries, the ones you hold for yourself and for others? Acknowledge whatever guilt flared up recently, and give yourself full permission to release it.

3. One expectation I have to let go of right now is...

Example: Are you holding yourself to an impossible standard, or carrying the weight of someone else's timeline? Are you holding on to things that you cannot change? Release what is not yours to carry. Name the expectation, and intentionally replace it with grace.

Clean your lens, start a fresh week feeling certain you're ready for a new week.
